On 1 September we farewelled our Director of 17 years, Christina Barton. Hear her final speech and a warm tribute by The Hon Luamanuvao Dame Winnie Laban, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Pasifika) at the Back of House opening on Friday 11 August. Collections Curator Sophie Thorn has stepped into the Acting Director role to see us into 2024.

We are excited to share our latest publication Energy Work: Kathy Barry/Sarah Smuts-Kennedy, beautifully documenting the 2022 show of the same title. Visit our online shop or come into the Gallery to see a copy in the flesh. Generously funded by a range of donors, you can buy this book for $50. If you are in Tāmaki Makaurau join the publication launch at Michael Lett, 12–1pm Saturday 2 September.

Listen to recordings of the Lunchtime Readings series associated with In Relation: Performance Works by Peter Roche & Linda Buis 1979–1985 now available on the Adam Art Gallery’s podcast channel.

We are excited to point out that Gavin Hipkins’s multi-part photo-installation The Model (Action), 1998, has been installed in a public-facing space visible from the bus station on the ground floor of Rutherford House on the Pipitea Campus. Pop in and take a closer look.
