A sample of a new generation of designers, MATERIALISE presented fresh fashion, textile and furniture design through innovative collaborations and display. Re-materialising the storefront venues of Wellington’s established designers and design retailers, a curated selection of some sixty Wellington-based designers were exhibited at Adam Art Gallery. Providing a distinctly new forum for emerging designers to develop, extend and present their practices, MATERIALISE was a preview of the future directions of design in Wellington.

MATERIALISE was initiated by the Adam Art Gallery in association with the Wellington Fashion Festival 2002 and the Wellington Museums Trust Wellington on Show programme, with participation by Victoria University of Wellington, Bowerman School of Design, Massey University Wellington, and Whitireia Community Polytechnic.
