Legacies in Conversation: May Adadol Ingawanij & Martin Sagadin

Curator & artist talk

6.00pm 19 July 2023

In association with CIRCUIT Artist Moving Image, join us for a discussion between curator May Adadol Ingawanij and artist Martin Sagadin, moderated by director of CIRCUIT Mark Williams. Providing insight into the exhibition Legacies: Five Short Artist Films, Ingawanij and Sagadin will delve into their approaches to the project. For Ingawanij, questions arising from her attempt to write a poem and the origins of her own name provided a starting point for conversations with the commissioned artists. For Sagadin, a short piece of writing by their friend, sculptor Caitlin Clarke, prompted Garden of Clay (2022), a diaristic portrait of Clarke returning to and burying her ceramic works in the sites where she originally harvested clay. Sagadin and Williams will be appearing in person, Ingawanij will join via Zoom from London. Come along at 5pm to see a showing of the entire 50-minute Legacies programme and then join us from 6pm for the discussion and screening of Sagadin’s Garden of Clay.
